WXDU's Mission
WXDU, as a member of the Duke University Union, exists to inform, educate, and entertain both the students of Duke University and the surrounding community of Durham through quality progressive alternative radio programming. WXDU seeks to give its staff the freedom to pursue their personal aesthetic within the framework of a cohesive format. WXDU aims to provide the listener with an alternative viewpoint untainted by commercial interests. WXDU resolves to maintain good relations with the music industry without compromising its integrity and nationally recognized commitment to quality programming. WXDU resolves to remain a laboratory where all members are free to make and learn from their mistakes.

Whistlin' Dixie/This House On Fire - Sunday 7/10

I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out Has a rare split show coming up! First, Meredith Heil, who filmed "Whistlin' Dixie", a documentary about LGBTQ music in the South, in 2009-2010 and was a guest on WXDU last year, will be having the premier of the movie this Sunday at the Pinhook at 8 pm. WXDU gets a name drop. How cool is that? Visit www.queersouth.com for more info. Then, up and coming Raleigh band This House on Fire will keep you entertained for the rest of the hour, and we'll be playing some tracks from their randomly burnt CD.

On I Liked You Better... on Sunday 6/12, the lovely gals of Pink Flag will be stopping by to promote their new EP, "King of Scene" - their first CD since 2008 (good grief)! The upcoming release will be 6/18 at the Motorco Music Hall here in Durham. Finally.

Scrap Exchange Interview 5/29

Ann Woodward, director of the Scrap Exchange, will be on I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out this Sunday 5/29. ILYB not only has in bands and musicians, but what we like to call "community enablers", and this organization is no exception. After the roof collapsed on Liberty Warehouse, the Scrap Exchange is going to have to move - and there will be a series of benefits around Durham, starting with one at the Casbah 6/4. We'll be playing a mess of the bands that will be contributing!

Triangle Soundpainting Orchestra on I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out, 5/22

Tune in on Sunday 5/22 from 6-7 pm to catch Shannon Morrow, founder of the Triangle Soundpainting Orchestra, along with Christopher Thurston and Bendte Fagge, to promote their upcoming show at Motorco Music Hall this Wednesday, 5/25. TSO was founded as a "real time" composing ensemble, and they'll be playing alongside ZAHA, a soundpainting group from New York as well. There will be some live tracks from shows heard as well. There will be a workshop for composing at 6 pm before the performance at Motorco as well! We'll be discussing it all on I Liked You Better...

HOG on I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out Sun. May 5/15

Hey all! The great and mighty HOG will be joining with Savannah this Sunday from 6-7 pm! Their new EP, Archetypes, is coming out now as well as a few shows coming up. They'll also be the first metal band on I Liked You Better..., so it'll be interesting. Right?

Birds & Arrows on I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out 4/17

From 6-7 pm Sunday 4/17, Birds & Arrows will be dropping by the station to chat, as well as play some tracks from their upcoming album, "We're Gonna Run", which will have its release party on May 7th at the Local 506 in Chapel Hill. Tune in!

The Instro Summit 2011 on I Liked You Better Before You Sold Out, 4/10

The Instro Summit is a three day instrumental rock-only festival spanning the weekend of April 29th, 30th, and May 1st - and WXDU has all the info on it! Fast becoming the largest instro rock fest in the Southeast, we're going to club and drag in "chief instigator" Crispy Bess to prepare the populace for the lyric-free onslaught.
