Cracks in the Cosmic Egg: German Psychedelia 1968-1978 - Tonight 8pm to 10pm

Call it krautrock, or Kosmische, or something else entirely. The music that came out of West Germany in the late 1960s and 1970s fused psychedelic rock, modern and minimalist classical music, and free jazz into one of the most compelling and influential sounds of its era. Tonight's College Radio Primer will feature the mind-expanding sounds of artists such as Can, Ash Ra Tempel, Neu!, and Tangerine Dream. This music would go on to influence artists such as Afrika Bambataataa, Stereolab, and Radiohead. Tune in!

Flex Your Head: Washington D.C. Hardcore 1978-1985 - Tuesday 2/8 10pm-midnight

Tonight, Nobody's Driving will feature the Washington D.C. hardcore scene that (among other things) birthed the straightedge movement, revitalizing and refocusing punk and hardcore music during the early 1980s (all in the shadows of Capitol Hill and Ronald Reagan). Tune in to hear the bands like Bad Brains and Minor Threat who forever altered the trajectory of hardcore music as well as some underrated and forgotten classics like Void, Faith, Double-O, and Untouchables.
